The church made of stones

Minuciosos detalles de la Fachada.

The next time you travel into the Savior Road to Pradera Concepcion or do it for an alternate route, we invite you to discover the beautiful forest surrounding lung Guatemala City. Also if you travel from Highway to Salvador to the city, use the same alternate route that will transport you in just 40 minutes from end to end, make sure you enjoy the scenery and not feel the minutes pass.

Start the Atlantic Road

Metro North route leads to Calle Marti or Calzada Peace. Enters the Atlantic Road and to leave most of developments back and find the right cross that marks the entrance to Palencia. This is an alternate route that takes you also to Puerto Barrios (later in Palencia there is a crossover that returns to the Atlantic Road). Once in the heart of Palencia, in the main road, turn right and go straight to the alternative route to Highway to the Savior that takes you to San José Pinula.

Start the Saviour Road

You begin in San José Pinula main street and walk straight to the bottom (going across the street and the church). At the very end you'll find two crosses, one on each side. Take the cross from the left and immediately travel to Palencia. Along this route you will find an intersection if you take it, you will direct to the Atlantic Highway (about mile 11) without going through Palencia, but to know the route well and get to the Rock Church of Santa Rita, you do the full tour to Palencia.

The complete route from end to end takes about 40 minutes. The landscape invites you to stop and take a trip around slowly to appreciate.

The church is visible from the road and is just 25 meters from the main road.

It is located in an area away from urban areas so it's a very quiet place surrounded by beautiful with different shades of green.

We will not tell the exact mile to maintain the surprise factor, this way you will stay alert to the panorama. Anyway, is nearby.

The church is a work of art

church

No doubt the church itself is a work of art inside and out.

All construction is based on rocks of similar size and irregular shape that adorn the exterior and interior including the tabernacle with brown and yellow tones.

In front you'll find several benches and a white cross, excellent points to appreciate the facade of the church and relax during your trip.

We recommend you visit this place on a Sunday morning or at noon to see the inside of the church.

As usual, we invite you to avoid the restaurants, leave the city and enjoy the traditional flavors: San Jose considers Pinula eating or dining you'll find on the route near Pinula ('ll find everything from tamales to roasted pork and steaks).

You can still eat in Palencia: tostadas, tacos, burgers and especially the variety of fruit instead.
