The other side of Pacaya volcano

¿Cuántas personas han podido ver esta faceta del Pacaya? Foto cortesía de www.fotosdeguatemala.com Dry lava flows in a valley still covered by dark spots, is very wide, the scenery is beautiful and the view of the volcano, simply incomparable, to appear next.

From the distance you can see how big rocks down the steep sandy slopes of the volcano.

During the evening you can look out matter forming the lava flow that is drawn and is visible from the road on a clear day.

By turning

It is an easy target, but after a long time, we completed the entire lap around the volcano.

Where? Well, from the traditional starting point of ascent, down to the Laguna de Calderas, on the right there, following the dirt, you can go after a while on the shores of Lake Amatitlán. Following the road to the viewpoint, the ascent takes you to Santa Elena Barillas (since there can also go out to Highway to Salvador).

Continue your way to the "positive", ask the locals. This route is somewhat familiar to many because they tend to take their jeeps and 4x4 in general to test them on the roads surrounding the volcano.

Finally, from the place, to the right end on the asphalt. A cool climate between cold is felt in the evenings and crosses creeks that runs across the road.

Finally you get to the shots where dark patches of dry lava join through ancient lava flows. The wind is strong but the view is breathtaking. In this dark time and night and decided to wait to see the brilliant lava down.

Following the path will not see a single soul ... the place is deserted, and I can not give many directions because I would like, at the mercy of your imagination. Pay attention to be there.

If you follow the right path you'll see some lights in the distance in nearby houses before reaching a settlement. Continues and they will tell you which exit. Finally go down the road, leaving your right the original dirt road leading to the volcano.

Sure, what is confusing you? When we went, none of us knew the route and completed without problems. The first people consulted gave us the same instructions that only gave us laugh ... but if we did it at night, others can too. It is a route suitable only for jeeps.

It is beyond doubt is that worth it just to be able to contemplate the other side of the volcano so popular in Guatemala, spectacular views.
