Meaning of the name Guatemala

Aunque no como en el pasado, aún hoy la ciudad misma se rodea de árboles.

Although not as much as in the past, even today  city itself is surrounded trees.

During the Spanish conquest were accompanied by various indigenous groups in the region to defeat others.

In fact, Pedro de Alvarado and other delegations came to Guatemala in the company of Mexican Indians, among them who spoke the Nahuatl language Tlaxcala.

Guauhitemala means "place of forests" or "land of trees" and is considered the origin of the current name but in reality there is no final consensus, because Guatemala is also mentioned by the Tzutuhil Atitlan nahual the name of the Cakchiquel warriors, the eagle.

Nagual is the animal form of a spirit or deity, that takes it to interact with humans and join them one way or another and communicate.
