The arches of Esquipulas

Arcos del acueducto de agua potable de Esquipulas. After the Spanish conquest in Chiquimula, Esquipulas began to chart a new town together with their public services.

Drinking water topped the list.

Taking advantage of the topography was chosen stream received from him that one kilometer of the population in the north.

Lacking water pumps and avoiding the use of force to remove animals, an aqueduct was built on mapostería walls, slab and pipe lined with bricks. The water would reach the town by gravity itself.

The flow came to an old box inside the coffee plantation owned by the Chavez family, then came to the stack of the park.

Impressively, this system was in use until 1933 when it began using a new one with galvanized pipe.

The arches of Esquipulas
For the June 12, 1970 Los Arcos, and abandoned, but beautiful and still standing were declared a national monument.

As shown in the photos, are very similar to the arches found in the Liberation Blvd next to the Zoo and heading to La Aurora Airport La Aurora.

To reach

Head north of Esquipulas (following the path in front of the Basilica). Come to a park across the street "Ixcoshé Palace."

You are just minutes from Los Arcos.

They are not visible from the street and you need to go through private property to arrive (subject still under discussion and controversy when he visited the place.)
