A visit to Ipala Volcano

Third visit to the volcano located between Jutiapa and Chiquimula. Its lagoon is an attraction that makes it constantly visited by local and foreign tourists.
His ascent is not difficult and has several routes, most simple and familiar.
This whole area has remnants of volcanic activity and these features make it possible to form precipitation and maintain a pond within the crater.
Previously it was more the size of the lagoon, however, over time, have begun to use as a source of water for nearby towns.

To get there take the road to the Atlantic, east of Guatemala, undergo Jutiapa and then find a place known as "El Arenal" which is a cross to the left which previously was mostly sand. Now is full of fruit sales.
To climb an accessible route, look for Agua Blanca Jutiapa. On the way will be clear signage Inguat (Guatemalan Institute of Tourism).
From there, follow the road for a few minutes and then must continue on foot. This route takes little time for pretty close to the crater.
Now it is necessary to remove a small amount because they said park rangers have to take care of the area, clean and help keep visitors on your stay.
Shelters were built small houses that are pleasing rock type cabins, where you can stay with the permission of the guardians.
But the direction of travel is to camp on the banks of the lagoon.
Jutiapa has a temperate-warm, but do not underestimate the volcano's summit because the cold and wind can become intense.
It has a gazebo on the edge of the crater, one of the upper parts and also has a cave near the routes of the paths.

At the end of the climb, which can be completed in one day, decided to visit Jutiapa for lunch and buy some of their cheeses and creams, which are famous for their excellent taste and quality, especially in Taxisco.
We spent the afternoon in the park and decided to return in the afternoon.
Usually I avoid repeating peaks as the taste is in the range as they say. But Ipala is an excellent exercise for acclimatization for future promotions volcanoes difficult and time, an excellent opportunity to start for beginners in mountaineering and climbing volcanoes.
