Make the most out of your trip to Petén

Petén is a department of Guatemala with greater land area and forest jungle.
If you've visited Petén, you know they are always eager to return.
Peten has great wealth and protects valuable Mayan archaeological treasures such as Tikal, Mirador Basin, Yaxhá and incomparable beauty as Lake Peten Itza, Laguna del Tigre, and more.
How much do you know of Petén?
Petén is a world of fantastic possibilities. If you were in Flores Peten (city center), what would you do? let me give you some ideas:
- Start your day with breakfast
- After five minutes you might enjoy a walk on the island of Flores
- In 10 minutes you come to Aktun Kan Caves (Caves of the Snake)
- In 20 minutes you could visit El Remate and enjoy the waters of Lake Peten Itza
- From El Remate, in five minutes you can explore Cerro Cahuí Biotope
- Is close to the best: in 25 minutes you could visit the Tikal National Park and see the huge Mayan temples rise up over the forest higher than El Castillo at Chichen Itza or Uxmal Pyramid of the Magician.
- In 15 minutes you could go to Temple V, the highest pyramid exposed to date.
- If you dare you could travel for 1 hour to visit Yaxhá and beauty only comparable with that of Tikal .
Do you think enough? You could go to the Zoo to see close Petencito a jaguar, crocodiles, monkeys and birds from the region. You can also venture to La Libertad, Sayaxché, Ceibal ...
