Yaxhá, nature and Mayan temples

I had no doubt ... Yaxhá travel is time travel. Not only the extraordinary work of reconstruction work in the place, but the distribution of the temples in harmony with the environment are sufficient to remove the more than one breath. We are quite satisfied as travelers (and why we are demanding it and some have already gone to many other beautiful places) and were more than proud to see American brothers walking in place with an expression of total surprise and amazement.
For some who came from afar the descripion of the place was enough to cheer and as we said, "is true, this place is good kid, very impressive."
So if you're looking for more than a trip to a beautiful place no doubt about it, Yaxha is an experience.
Tikal, Petén also is the most famous tourist site in Guatemala if we talk about the Maya. Yaxhá is comparable in beauty, size and especially in essence. Is rightly part of the itinerary of passengers in good taste.
Enjoy the white beach

The beach looks beautiful and the desire to swim Missing but not idea of Crocodiles
is sufficient to think twice.
In northern Guatemala, the Petén. It takes just two hours to get from the heart of Flores, departmental head and a protected area provides an environment both ecotourism, natural, and the benefits of having temples within walking distance.
Protected area and natural environment
If you are looking for hotels with air conditioning and cable, walk in another channel ... Yaxhá is recognized as a sanctuary for travelers around the world and here you can enjoy nature.
You can stay overnight if problems because there is a campground with restrooms and especially security. This part is high for more peace and right there you can build your tent.
There is so much life that the evening is a natural orchestra, not to mention the sunrise that wakes you up with the singing of innumerable birds and the cries of the howler monkeys that are loud and more like the roar of big cats.
In front of the camp is the view of Laguna de Yaxhá and across Topoxté Island, where he is a Mayan city connected to Yaxhá. In the middle is not just water ... A sign that seemed half picturesque said, "do not use soap and watch the crocodiles."
Unexpected Surprise
When we were in Tikal talk about how awesome it is to be on top of a temple, see the jungle and find other temples in the distance. In Yaxhá, as we say "is another level."
From some of the high temples is an even more imposing structure that called 216, and that's where we were surprised ...

Upload your tiers leads to a view of Laguna Yaxhá so high that you can see Topoxté structures across the island. Not that we lust for power but being there makes you feel like one of the rulers, unattainable, and to say "to another level."
Pyramids and temples
Not all Mayan pyramids are equal. Tikal has a style and other style Yaxhá is quite different. The pyramids of Yaxhá reminded us a lot to those seen in the movie Alien vs. Predator is no joke.

In their place you can upload some of the temples (not all leave) and you can see the rest from above, which are close to each other.
We were lucky to see how they worked in the reconstruction of the temples by stacking rocks. Some were as pyramids and other such places. The most interesting part is where restored some huge figures that were buried, but do not leave security approach or take pictures. All these jobs were cordoned off and restricted areas for visitors as expected, is what most wanted to see.
It was impressive to see how they took time and dedication. Workers are obliged to abide by strict restoration methods using modern materials with a certain limit. Although mnodernas tools used to cut, move and stack, is not an easy task, nor say how it was in time of the Maya when they had these tools.
Visit Yaxhá
The road is the same as you would take if you leave hata Tikal in Guatemala City. The Atlantic Road passes through Izabal up to the north. There you will find a fork that points to Tikal. Just go to Los Amates there is another fork and signs to guide you Yaxhá. It is pure asphalt except the last part where you enter the protected area but everything is in excellent condition.
We take to tell you that you carry spare tire and a full tank because from Los Amates not find another gas station ... And do not exaggerate ... We had to turn around and return to fill the tank or not we ...
At 17:30 and will not let you so you have to be scheduled well protected because it is a fairly safe area and if you take seriously their role to respect the timetable. At the entrance you register in a logbook and a fee to cancel the military guards and custodians. Foreigners pay more, if you take how to verify that you are Guatemalan pay less.
Conclusion: Yaxhá is ideal to go at Easter. Not a bad idea to schedule it for your holiday or even just a weekend if you come from vierens night. Enough to return on Sunday night to the capital.
