Junajpú, new feature at Volcán de Agua

Volcán de Agua tendrá teleférico desde Santa María de Jesús.

Agua Volcano cable car will from Santa Maria Jesus.

They are no longer rumors or projects, the cable car over the Agua finalmence will take place. It is a unique work of its kind and will carry tourists from Santa Maria de Jesus to the crater of the volcano. It is planned that the ascent via cable car has a petrol station. The cost is estimated at U.S. $ 22.5 million.

What will change?

Apart from the forest covering the volcano, the crater is a small forest on its banks, where space often plays football or tents full of climbers in traditional times (such as December and January). It also has a small stone chapel.

The cable car plan is to build an ecological park on the slopes of the volcano, purses and such telescopes to locate a hotel with an amphitheater in the crater, it would house not only tourists but also become home to conventions, conferences, concerts and events general.

Where is Santa Maria de Jesus?

Located on the slopes of the volcano about 30 minutes from Antigua Guatemala. This is expected to increase the influx of tourism to the area and have concerts and conventions infrastructure to accommodate them apart.

Reactions?

The population of Santa Maria de Jesus is almost entirely indigenous. No doubt this will create new opportunities for varied work with local business opportunities.

The community of climbers in general is likely to have opinions and that while one side is a great benefit to the town, also has an impact on wildlife and ecosystem. Many no doubt will venture to find the crater "without knowing the volcano climbing the teleférifo, which limits the experience.

However, the cable car will enable family and friends of mountaineers (possibly with some health impairment) to achieve what we know we have seen for years and were presented as a challenge very difficult. The heart will continue to raise climbers on the trails.

Astronomical Tourism

The time of clear skies will give a great opportunity to observe the stars into the nearly three thousand meters above the volcano (above sea level).

"Laws? "Regulations? Regular?

There is no news but we hope to plan ahead as this type of tourism projects in communities often have an impact as significant increase in the value of property and land (which currently are for farming and housing). This problem has manifested in La Antigua
