Volcán de Agua in Guatemala


Volcán de Agua completo, desde las faldas a la cima visto desde el Acatenango.Volcán de Agua is named after the violent flow of her skirts that came down and destroy the city of Guatemala, at that time located in Old Town and it was moved to La Antigua Guatemala.

Years later, this new settlement was hit by violent earthquakes and the city had to move back to its current location, the Valley of the Virgin.

Its peak reaches a height of 3722 meters above sea level and rise takes place surrounded by green forest trails ending at the summit with an overview of green pines.

The view from the top is phenomenal and as a curiosity, has a chapel with a crucifix. During the ascent you can find several crosses that correspond to each step of the Cross is done as a tradition each year.

It is most visited during the month of December by tradition and foreign mountaineers. There is no infrastructure and it is a natural destination for the night must have camping equipment.
