Atitlán, the Lake of the seven colors

Lago de Atitlán This lake was the scene of the battle between the Spanish and their allies against Tz'utujil kaqchikeles. Currently in Solola are 3 indigenous groups: the Quiché, Cakchiquel tz'utujil and.

Road to Atitlan

We went with my cousin wearing my N-95 to take some pictures, the tour started out by the Interamerican Highway road Chimaltenango passing the famous San Lucas, before arriving in La Antigua Guatemala. Then passed through Chimaltenango, and after Patcizía at kilometer 69, where a stretch of perfectly straight road, near the end there is a section full of famous and traditional restaurants and Katok, and others in which we go to lunch .

We went to the American path reaching the meetings there is a fork. The crossing to the left leads to Solola and Quetzaltenango. The right turn leads directly to Chichicastenango (Chichi if you're going to visit the market, churches such as Santo Tomás, the cemetery where the graves of several paint colors, each color has a meaning).

We take the left as I said is what leads to Solola, is marked below the road that leads directly to Solola (left) will be approximately 3:20 minutes in total on our trip.

We went down to the beach in Panajachel which means quack, he was a tree that was abundant in the area.

Panajachel and Lake origins

Atitlán, Lake of the 7 colors
Panajachel is nestled in the valley of San Buena Ventura. All around the lake are small towns, many with the names of the Apostles at. In one of them, Santiago Atitlan Mashimón visit to a kind of spirit widely revered not only in place if not in several places in Guatemala.

By the way to go sit on the skin devosion people. An important fact that no one mentioned, which are part of the beautiful visual spectacle are the 3 volcanoes Volcanoes place San Pedro, Toliman and Atitlan. As I learned this volcano (Atitlan) is linked with the birth of Lake Atitlan is a volcanic caldera. It exploded millions of years ago creating an explosion so big that according to data obtained by geologists, sand came to Mexico.

Subsequently grew and were born eruptive volcanoes of San Pedro, Atitlan, Toliman and the Cerro de Oro

Xocomil and Lake Atitlan

We got into one of the many boats of all, I asked the captain or conductor about Xocomil Xocomil and told me, comes from the voices kaqchikeles "Xocom" of Jocomes (collect) and "il" (sins), or the wind that takes the sins of the villagers of the Lake. What interesting fact that few know or have a remote idea.

A wonderful view of a gentle breeze a unique place of truth.

What I liked was the clarity of its waters and warm and friendly people, apart from the tranquility that is needed and not found everywhere.

I returned very happy and eager to return to this beautiful paradise of my Guatemala.

. I invite domestic and foreign for anything you do not miss the opportunity to be in the Most Beautiful lake in the world.
