Momostenango cliffs Totonicapán

Momostenango cliffs Totonicapán Located in the town of Momostenango in Totonicapán. Receives many visitors during the year and is one of the tourist icon of the department.

As a frequent flier, after seeing many attractions in Guatemala, I assure you that popular fame does not do justice to Totonicapán referring only to the cliffs. In itself, Totonicapán has many attractions for every taste.

San Francisco el Alto and Momostenango (destinations to visit in your trip to the Cliffs), offer several options for lunch or shopping in its various markets.

The architecture of the churches is always something worth watching.

Specifically I recommend the market in San Francisco el Alto.

It has so much affluence and trade that the traffic varies depending on the day of the week, ie a path is selected days of entry and other days it is out, alternatives to improve traffic flow.

And no wonder, since the quality of the crops that are, are worthwhile in themselves to stop a moment and supplies.

Momostenango is quiet and peaceful. You can also eat there during your trip to or from the Cliffs at any of their restaurants.

Its center is as traditionally handled the architecture in Guatemala, that is, a church, a park, a portal and the building currently occupied by the police.

Towards the crags, between forests

While there is much to see in Totonicapán, the road to Momostenango is in my opinion, truly relaxing views to explore its cool woods. Children often see grazing on the roadside.

Your journey begins at the Pan American Highway, where after Cuatro Caminos find the crossing to San Francisco el Alto. From there, following closely the signals that lead you to the Cliffs. Do not be distracted because you could overlook the junction that leads to the curious formations. Follow the road and take one of the highest parts called "The Summit", find a curve that continues the road to your right and a cross to the left, leading down to the Crags.

The course is short enough to do in a morning or afternoon. The road is in excellent condition and not worry about the security aspect. People are very friendly and happy to give you directions in case you doubt the road crossings.
